I watch her watching me
And I’m confused
Where did I make a turn for motherhood
I am not a mother
I am a free spirit
I am a have a drink anytime the sun is out type of lady
I am cute
I am sexy
I am not a mother
What if she is just like me
She will not be liked
What if she looks like me
She will not be famous
What if she expresses herself like me
She will not keep friends
I never thought I’d be a mother
And I actually never hoped
But when I look at this little girl
I cannot see myself without her
I want the sea for her bath water
I want all of the gold for her blankets
I want diamonds for her smile
I want all the love for her happiness
I want what ever mother wants for her little girl
The world
I never saw myself becoming a mother
But I never saw myself not
My daughter will be better than I
She is the sunshine, I never produced
The dreams I never accomplished
The work I never completed
The laughter I never got out
The beauty that I never let others see
My daughter will be what I made
A miracle
A blessing
A joy
A smile
My daughter will be everything I love and more
Everyday
In every way
